In cadrul evenimentului caritabil dar si dupa licitatie, au fost achizitionate lucrari in valoare totala de 3600 lei.

Tot in cadrul evenimentului a fost stransa din activitati suplimentare suma de 800 lei.

In total 4400 lei, echivalentul a aprox. 1420 $ sau 1066 Euro.

Cheltuielile cu evenimentul au cumulat 600 lei, echivalentul a aprox. 190 $ sau 145 Euro.

Suma rezultata destinata transferului catre Busabaga: 3800 lei / 1227 $ / 921 Euro

Din cauza dificultatilor si micilor impedimente pe care le-am intampinat in colectarea propriu zisa a banilor, abia astazi s-a efectuat primul transfer de bani catre Uganda, in valoare de 2856 lei / 650 Euro / 890 $ / 1.687.961 UGX la care s-a adaugat comisionul de 35 Euro / 46 $.

Speram sa stangem cat mai repede si restul sumei de 900 de lei de la cei care au donat si sa trimitem cat mai curand acesti bani catre copii din Uganda.

The total amount raised by first art4Africa Event was 4400 lei / 1420 $ /1066 Euro from which 3600 lei from the art selling and 800 from other fair activities. The event had expenses of 600 lei / 190 $ / 145 Euro leaving us with a total of 3800 lei / 1227 $ / 921 Euro to actually send to the African school.

In the very next future we hope to raise the rest of 900 lei / 290 $ / 218 Euro and send them right away. We will inform on that action as well.

In data de 15 aprilie 2010 propunem Art4Africa, un exercițiu colectiv de empatie, un eveniment în cadrul căruia, pentru foarte scurt timp vom uita problemele noastre atât de grave și presante și ne vom întoarce privirea către un continent unde 13 Euro pot hrăni un copil timp de 3 luni și totuși… cei 13 Euro nu există.

On the 15th of April 2010 we suggest Art4Africa, as a collective exercise of empathy, an event within witch for a short while we will forget about our critical and pressing worries and turn our consideration toward a continent where 13 Euros could feed a child for 3 months, but still…those 13 Euros does not exist.

Organizația Busabaga Lugala Community Development Initiative condusa de Isaac Musoke gestiona o școală construită de-a lungul mai multor ani, prin eforturile voluntarilor, cu ajutorul mai multor organizații caritabile.

Uganda East Africa. Busabaga village. A place avoided by civilisations where electricity, sewerage or running water never existed.
The organization Busabaga Lugala Community Development Initiative lead by Isaac Musoke was administrating a school built along many years, by efforts of volunteers and with help of charitable organizations.

Anul acesta, din cauza corupției locale, organizația a pierdut dreptul de a mai folosi clădirea școlii. Dascălii și cei peste 300 de copii din Busabaga s-au repliat; pe un teren donat de săteni au încropit o construcție cu acoperiș din paie și și-au continuat activitatea. Problemele lor însă nu s-au rezolvat. Pe lângă nevoia unui acoperiș adecvat, copii au nevoie de o masă caldă pe perioada cât învață, de cărți și caiete. Nevoile lor sunt simple. De bază. Atât de ușor de satisfăcut. Și totuși…

This year, due to local corruption, the organization lost the rights to use the School building. The teachers and over 300 pupils from Busabaga moved in silence; on a field donated by the villagers they lukewarm a construction with a roof made of straws and went on with their activity. But their problems were not solved. Besides the need of a proper roof, the children need a warm meal while they are studying, as well as books and notebooks. Their needs are simple. Basic. So easy to satisfy. And still…

Joi, 15 aprilie 2010, artiștii români donează desene cu tema Africa, iar toți cei ce vor să dea o mână de ajutor sunt invitați să liciteze. Toți banii vor fi donați organizației Busabaga Lugala Community Development pentru a o susține în continuarea activității. Pentru cei ce nu își pot permite achiziția unui desen semnat de un artist român, organizatorii au pregătit alternative: turtă dulce, cărți poștale și obiecte tradiționale africane ce vor putea fi cumpărate la prețuri modice, banii rezultați fiind la rândul lor donați aceleiași cauze.

Thursday, 15th of April, the Romanian artists are donating pictures with the theme Africa, and all those who are willing to give a hand are invited to auction. All the money will be donated to the organization Busabaga Lugala Community Development in order to sustain the continuation of their activity. For those that can not afford to purchase a drawing of an artist, the organizers prepared some alternatives: ginger bread, postal cards and traditional African items can be bought at reasonable prices, the money resulting from these activity going for the same cause.

A brief History

Busabaga Lugala Community Development Initiative (BLCDI) a Community Based Organization officially started its operations in Busabaga village in 2005. We started off by addressing the need for education and health among others and Victoria Primary school was born under a tree shade up the hill where children gathered for classes.

A Canadian Based charity: New Hope School Society comes along to support the construction of a few class rooms for the school panting children.
Our organization had by then established reliable grounds that strengthened the relationship for the work to be done.

By the end of 2008, the rooms were up and already usable as classes for the children.
Our Canadian counterparts had also taken several footages on our grounds making personal relationships with people here and also trying to blend in the welcoming culture.

Their goal was to see at most a school constructed for the children in this area and probably well managed before they closed down as charity. By late August 2009, we had informed our members about the possible pull out by the donors as requested and this become good news in hearing for some corrupt government officials together with a few village opportunists, who contacted our donor friends with unprecedented misinformation which we later on discovered as the basis of the dilapidated state of our first school today.

The motive for this has been keenly observed since the saga started last year. We have already learnt that the perpetrators had their personal selfish ambitions of overtaking the school and rip off the last drop of funds from the intended closing charity.
The CBO has fully gathered that they were all eying a substantial amount that they reportedly promised some of the villagers that fell on their side to destroy the image of the CBO.

The monies NEVER came as they all expected to date and this leaves a very miserable situation most especially for the parents of the children. The politicians are keeping a lid on the situation as the people they left to manage the school are purely under qualified with the skills to maintain its wellbeing. Our qualified staff withdrew immediately and started up the school we now call new.

The school in the pictures opened early this year 2010, with a number of increasing children that renounced attendance in the old Victoria primary school. We started with about 94 children and the number has increased to more than 100.the school is totally managed by the aggrieved parents of the former school together with the CBO which strictly supports the programs.

Victoria primary school remained operational with only a few students attending and by now as I compile this brief notice, the numbers have drastically decreased. The services are no longer adequate and the students’ performance is in a very poor state. The teacher’s salaries were cut to almost half after the former donors pulled out of the supporting of the school.

I and several other members of the CBO (Community Based Organization) also known as (Busabaga Lugala Community Development Initiative) BLCDI have taken on the pursuing of a law suit against the perpetrators of this and the situation remains pending for the hearing on the 12th April 2010. We are certain that if true justice exists in our country, there will be a dramatic change of this disconcerting situation.

However, the number of children that don’t even have access to education is so alarming that we need more schools and services to mitigate this problem as one of the means to address illiteracy, poverty and ignorance. The CBO is registered to help in different community support services and we feel that, the need for education is the most paramount and most of the young lives are at stake if we rushed at focusing on other initiatives.

Education in this country is the key to any known success and as it is, that every one longs to go to school, some people hardly get this golden opportunity mainly because…’Education in this country is NOT FREE”!!
I would give a personal testimony if you may, of how I have struggled my way through to even have a glimpse of this hidden treasure of education.
Most children have the conscience to understand the need to be educated in this country and in this village they would trade any thing in order to be at school.

Meanwhile, we have managed to form small adult groups to assist in skills building in order to address the poverty issue in the area. We have carried out several village profiles which gives us a viable baseline to communicate change in this area. In our discoveries, we have learnt that most of the families in this community live below the poverty line and therefore need a helping hand so as to increase on their income generating activities among other factors.

This Information has been compiled to establish a level of trust between our organization and any charitable funding agency and or generous individuals in Romania. The information is subject to sharing by networking partners in development for causes implemented by Busabaga Lugala Community Development Initiative – Uganda (BLCDI).

BLCDL is an interdenominational, non sectarian, non political and a non profit making Organization that renders services to the entire community of Kawolo Sub County Busabaga village in particular Mukono District without discriminating members on the basis of gender, atrocity, religious or political lines. The organization was initiated on 05th, April 2005 by a group of 7 members. These members are very supportive and live within the community. They are equipped with self reliance and participatory rural community development skills i.e. interpersonal , good communication to aid facilitation, poverty analysis, group dynamics, development theory, income generation, gender issues, Book keeping, resource mobilization, water hygiene and sanitation skills.

VISION / MISSION / GOALS

The Organization envisions a sustainable community, self reliant with a stable livelihood. Its mission is “Working collectively as a model community to empower, create self reliance, self awareness and vibrant household income generating activities, for competitive national and regional development.”
Vision: “To embrace development, through empowerment and self reliance in community.”
The overall goal is to: “empower the community to be able to improve and utilize all the skills so as to manage their development activities for improved livelihood of the people of Busabaga Sub County”.

Sources of Previous Funding
BLCDI has in the recent past received funding from the following sources:
1. Community contribution partnership which supports Education.
2. Local networking which supports health and groups income generating activities and hygiene, sanitation practices.

We currently, have our steadfast focus on improving the livelihood of the poorest peoples of Busabaga area through; establishment of education centers e.g. Nansenya primary School – Busabaga and also improve on their agricultural practices.
